I sometimes thought my father thought he could't die while he still had books on his pending pile (a stab at immortality I seem to be replicating)... so, it was strangely touching to see Tom Gauld has had similar thoughts.

    Here we go again: Someone replies “we DESERVE” who we get in elections… Me: No, we didn’t DESERVE Trump. (There were dirty tricks, election interference, 7 million more for Hillary). He then felt he had to explain we don’t use pop vote in elections. No kidding. I asked that he “please don’t twist my words, my issue was “DESERVE”. His reply? “I’ll make a conscious effort to passively consume your content without further engagement moving fwd.”

    @skotchygut @GottaLaff considering how much voter suppression there is in this country and how much voting is actively discouraged in many cases, no, we do not "deserve" what we get. People who want to vote are often not allowed to vote, and the poor are discriminated against by voting restrictions. We do not have free and fair elections in many states, and the SCOTUS has destroyed the Voting Rights Act so things are getting worse.
