Perhaps not a popular view, but as someone who believes not only in Palestinian liberation but in abolition and anarchy, I am not celebrating the ICC seeking warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, Sinwar, Deif, and Haniyeh.
The ICC falls firmly within the punitive, repressive carceral system and logic on which modernity operates. Putting people in prison, even people we don't like, does not heal, does not transform harm, does not lead to justice. It simply perpetuates a cycle and mindset of revenge as punishment.
"You can't jail an idea" is a popular slogan. But the same holds true for genocidal, hierarchical, supremacist ideas and the power behind them. Jailing Netanyahu is not only something that will not happen, but were it to happen, it would not stop genocide or Zionism or settler colonialism.
While fighting to stop the genocide, while tending to the immense loss, suffering, and harm, I believe we also need to articulate and propose liberatory visions that escape discourses of states, leaders, and oppressive ideologies of which the ICC is a part.
As expected, "Fingers have pointed at Israel after a helicopter carrying Ebrahim Raisi and other top Iranian aides crashed into a mountainside on Sunday."
Just speculations at the moment. Israel denies any involvement and the cause of crash has yet to be determined.

While announcing the decision to ask judges to confirm if he (the prosecutor) can issue arrest warrants against ruling classes of Hamas & Israel, what that puppet of Empire at International Criminal Court (ICC) explicitly emphasized is "Principle of Complementarity" i.e Allowing the genocidal entity to prosecute its own criminals so ICC can wash off its hands.
The puppet did not even allege the Crime of of Genocide (Article 6) against genocidal entity's ruling class. Whats Israel is being prosecuted in the other court --- International Court of Justice (ICJ) --- is for genocide & its somehow not being brought up here.
Genocidal entity has committed every crime Hamas is alleged & more. But somehow there are unique crimes that are alleged against just Hamas.
That's not an oversight. Its deliberate & intentional.
I mentioned in the past that I dont see an iota of evidence that any of these genocidal thugs will ever be brought to Justice.
Even after today's announcement by Empire's puppet court ICC that it requests Judicial overlords (appointed by ruling class) to grant the permission to issue arrest warrants, I still don't think we will ever see any Justice actually be done.

It goes without saying, only time will tell what are the exact variables ruling classes are operating under behind closed doors, but I am not at all hopeful.

Gallant was attempting to explain his position following a speech in which he criticized the party chairman, PM Netanyahu. Explaining why he opposes military rule in #Gaza, he said:
