jimmy90 ,

you can address these things using CBT and a nice therapist, those flinches will fade

jimmy90 ,

correct :)

jimmy90 ,

yeah, i think any project needs effective leadership. without it disagreements can fester into conflict and bullying becomes a bad way of resolving or beating those you are in conflict with

Destiny

jimmy90 ,

is that what happened? we've had very different experience of reality

jimmy90 ,

yep. those debates seem to be trapped in an endless cycle where one or both sides can't handle certain realities. they all start off vaguely informative and end up as just entertainment.

jimmy90 ,

i think that's roughly exactly what happened - i think the new neural nets have 80 billion neurons which is a rough estimate of what a human brain has

the way they work is wildly different of course

jimmy90 ,

i read somewhere a little while ago that some of the LLMs have about that number

Find a fuck-load of sugar and carbonated water

Good luck :)

For people who have psoriasis/eczema/bad skin, how did you get rid of your dandruff?

I've been dealing with dandruff since I was a kid, it's always made me really insecure and always wear a hat. I've tried plenty of different hair products, none seem to work. It's not just my hair on my scalp, it's my beard as well. I'm a 19 year old male (Caucasian), I've been already deciding if I want to go bald or not. I...

And rinse with diluted cider vinegar after?

jimmy90 ,

Kbin/mbin were also designed to try to support both interfacing with micro blogging (as in Mastodon and a few others) and with Threads (as in Lemmy and a couple others).

i wish Lemmy would do same

jimmy90 ,

Is it true that addicts never stop being addicts

No, although anyone is free to return to harmful behavior if they choose to do so.

they just replace their addiction?

No, but most therapy is based around cognitive behavioral therapy along with many different complementary treatments. CBT strengthens non-addictive behavior and weakens or disrupts (replaces?) addictive behavior. You trained your brain to be an addict so you learn and train it not to be an addict.

jimmy90 ,

self hosted services that automatically and safely scale to global p2p services is about to happen

jimmy90 ,

solar

solar!

jimmy90 ,

There has been a few attempts; zeronet and one from bittorent themselves that was dropped (I wonder what happened to that).

None of them have been used to create the killer app that has inspired the required network effect for mainstream usage. I guess finding the magic architecture that works and becomes sticky is the key. There are so many ways to do it!

jimmy90 ,

just move to rust and be done with it :)

jimmy90 ,

there was a handful (like about 3 or 4) of the movement that actually came up with serious economic analysis and ideas for reform, there were a few youtube video presentations of their work from that time but i have no idea if they still exist

jimmy90 ,

it's true that it was close to impossible for the jury to remain unaffected by the political situation in LA at the time.

But the police and prosecutors did such a bad job it was almost impossible to convict him beyond reasonable doubt. He was convicted easily in the civil case later.

jimmy90 ,

try dual booting with the latest ubuntu and try a few things, customise it a bit. you might be surprised how good things are!

jimmy90 ,

i would love Lemmy to act like Mastodon for users that opt in

jimmy90 ,

when it's so big the ears go back gets me every time

jimmy90 ,

yes it gives their life structure like other addictions

jimmy90 ,

Dawkins calls out women's and LGBTQ+ rights being a fundamental issue for all Islam

jimmy90 ,

The context of the discussion was contemporary UK and in that respect Islam does have a worse problem even though, as part of the secular UK, almost all Muslims do not attempt to enforce their beliefs on the rest of society

...could do with a hand, and it's very spicy! isomorphic rust code, bleeding edge UI frameworks, potential to radically improve a system used by millions

jimmy90 ,

Blasphemous Grift is my favorite band name since One Punch Manslaughter

jimmy90 ,

i'd like to unify them in one app so one can make the other more discoverable and connected

It just gets worse the more you read ( suppo.fi )

Reading about the current events got me looking into the history of Palestine and Israel, and I noticed a lot of Israel's politicians (like Yitzhak Shamir, Menachem Begin, and Ariel Sharon to name a few) were Zionist terrorists (using the word literally, not subjectively) since before the establishment of Israel. The groups they...

jimmy90 ,

jimmy90 ,

jimmy90 ,

Ad blocking on android

I would like to pirate on my phone sometimes and the ads on websites are problem. I’m not newbie, I know I can install firefox and get the uBlock on it but firefox android is a little bit slow so I prefer to use Opera browser; opera has an ad blocker but it’s a joke compared to uBlock. I’m in a restricted country and my...

jimmy90 ,

Firefox and Kiwi browsers both support full Ublock Origin

What got you into selfhosting and what was the first thing that you hosted?

For me, it was PhotoPrism. I used to be an idiot, and used Google Photos as my gallery. I knew that it was terrible for privacy but was too lazy to do anything about it. When Google limited storage for free accounts, I started looking for alternatives. Tried out a lot of stuff, but ended up settling on PhotoPrism....
