I found it slightly better. I also find the entire user experience appealing, so that adds some points. I use web search dozens of times a day for work, so it's worth it for me.

Damn that stings, but honestly your "failure" is more than I've accomplished even in my successes. Like I just wanted to make a roguelike game, but managed to make a bad roguelike engine that no one uses, not even myself. And I'm still calling that a win.

I know you weren't trying to solicit advice, but have you thought of getting other people involved in running the radio station? Then you can participate when you have the energy, and take a step back when you don't?

Also I have plenty of podcasts, essayists, and newsletter writers that I like, who have a very inconsistent cadence, and it's fine. It's a happy surprise when I see they're back online.

Just start. I made another email a few years ago and just started using it for new accounts, moving others over when I thought of it...

Slowly but surely my Gmail has become a ghost town that receives mostly just spam, and the odd password reset link for accounts I haven't bothered updating.

Sure it's not a 100% but it's a lot, and it's a little bit less of myself getting to google

What do you think of the term "short king" as a term that's supposed to champion body positivity for men?

Body positivity is such a strange concept to me. There's efforts to reclaim words while simultaneously calling them bad if used as an insult. Ideally, people wouldn't be offended by someone describing their body with common descriptors, but socially there is so much value attributed to certain body types that it's almost...

Fascinating! My taste for it has kinda gone away as I've got older, to the point I can't imagine how I could sit my ass down for over an hour. Instead of doing literally anything else.

I do still watch some streaming stuff for video essayists, music, and tutorial/instruction videos (work or personal project related)

Adding free or low cost commercial tiers for more price sensitive people doesn't give me commercials.

The thing is they didn't add a new, cheaper or free "ad supported" option. They added ads to the current price, and then told us to pay more if we wanted to keep the same experience. This is one of the 7 dread turd pillars of enshittifi ation.

It's a bit high horse-y but other than my parents' Netflix, I just switched to paying for journalism. You get used to after a while, honestly.

But full disclosure my partner does stream a lot, so I get it kind of ambiently.

Yeah I was thinking of Amazon, but Netflix briefly demoed it then backed off. At this point most of the providers have at least three ability to stream interstitial content, and we know that advertisers must be banging on their doors waving money at them. I have very little trust in the providers not to mess this up

I came from a cpp background and loved it the moment I saw it. Like, you mean I just go var foo = ... and then I can put anything? No type casting?? No types??? Finally, I was free.

But I've always been more of a hacker than a real programmer. I've since learned that there are advantages to using types, static checking, etc...
