It has always just felt a lot faster than navigating through a GUI. I suppose at the end of the day this is entirely dependant on how well designed the GUI is. Should I type in one command I have memorized or navigate through multiple sub pages?
I've been feeling uneasy about the privacy implications of using Lemmy and similar platforms. The ability for anyone to view your entire posting history feels to me like publicly sharing my browser history. In contrast, most other social media platforms allow you to limit your feed visibility to just friends or followers....
You're right, it isn't entirely true. A perfectly private social media service could be constructed but it likely won't because there is no profit motive. Even if it were, how many people would truly use it.
We had things like this in the beginning of the internet. Anonymous chat rooms and message boards were incredibly popular but I doubt they will ever reach that level of popularity again.

Having an interesting conversation with someone you just met. I see people do this shit all the time and they make it look like it comes naturally but every time I'm in that situation it is so difficult. Its like a series of quick time events that im severely underprepared for
I might as well jump on the May the 4th bandwagon and post something Star Wars related too. Here's some test footage from 2005 for a potential Star Wars TV show called Underworld, which would've been set in the lower levels of Coruscant (you know, the cyberpunk part of the Star Wars universe)....
Fr? I dont get anything even close to that. Its super fascinating how much the psychedelic experience differs from person. I have extremely strong geometric visuals and patterning as well as shifting and flowing of objects but one of my closest friends has basically 0 visuals even on very high doses. Its primarily an emotional expereince for him. My roomate as well has a very minimal visual experience as well but he atleast gets some. I wish I could experience psychedelics from their or your perspectives. Im so curious as to what it would be like.

This is a comment I wrote a while ago on a post specifically about the ability of visible to evaporate water. I thought some of the info was relevant to the meme but I can see how some of it wouldn't really fit or make sense.
As for all the things you pointed out
Highest proportion of energy from the sun that plants absorb* should have specified that and its on me.
Second point is pure speculation and conjecture and is not intended to be a statement of fact
I really recommend reading that source I linked. I am in no way an expert, its just a topic I hyperfocused on and researched for a few days. I did confirm details with my gf who is a hort major and does understand these things but she is also an undergrad. Its a very cool topic and I'm excited to read that article you mentioned after my DND session
I couldn't find it on anna's archive either but I also couldn't invest too much attention rn. If you find a link could you comment it here? Im gonna keep looking as well later and will do the same
You seem like you know a lot more about this topic than I do lol. I've updated my comment to some important context I should have added from the beginning. You can also dig through this thread to see more in depth explanations of lacking context.
The sun is a greenish star and what I was getting at was that a large portion of the Sun's emitted energy is in the form of green light meaning that plants can reduce the magnitude of fluctations in recieved energy by reducing their intake of green light. As you said though, you haven't seen it definitively proven that this is the case.
As for the red a blue wavelengths of light... honestly I don't know nearly enough about photochemistry to talk on the subject and was just parroting what the research paper reported. I am not nearly far enough into quantum to have even heard the term exciton lmao (but I did look them up and they seem cool).
Fantastic to know that plants are just magic actually. Very cool
