Very well said. To try and claim that black people have a victim mentality when the systems in place are built to not take accountability for what black people have had to endure is madness.

I think the connotations of a victim mentality dictate that you feel unfairly victimized. But you take simple things that effect black people like jail terms for crimes where white people walk away with a slap on the wrist. Lower offers for property depending on if the pictures show the property is black family owned versus white. To recognise injustice shouldn't be negative but unfortunately it is, so black people are forced to pretend they don't see the injustice and thus work harder for less. It's a shitty system that needs to be dismantled.

I remember when Elon Musk was peddling the hyperloop idea and he was saying that we could make tunnels everywhere. At the time everyone was obsessed with cars, but perhaps it's an idea worth exploring for making bicycle travel feasible all year. Imagine a network of air conditioned tunnels across the city that people could ride in and never feel overly hot or cold.

The fediverse won’t succeed at putting up a substitute and that’s a problem?

Just an impression: All the pieces seem to be there. But what’s required is a team, with devs, PMs and coordinators, dedicated to making a particular place in the .

That’s resources and decently sized financial and organisational demands, especially to get a critical mass of users.

Is the fediverse up to that challenge? If not, is it an issue worth addressing?

The copyright law says that Musk cannot claim copyright while also claiming not to be accountable. That has nothing to do with users waiving their copyright, which has been the standard practice for all forum software since practically forever. It's why prior to GDPR, their was nothing to motivate websites from deleting your posts and even that isn't about copyright, it's about privacy.

Tesla are miles ahead right now. But with all the legacy cars on the road, they should in theory be able to harness the data and catch up soon. In an ideal world though, their would be an open source system available that we could use for busses, taxis and even ambulances.

What's steer control and why does it need it if it's supposed to keep lines? I'm genuinely confused here. You're saying the Mercedes system shouldn't be rated because they have another Mercedes system? Even though they're in a car rated as being SAE level 3?

Also my bad, just corrected myself. The Mercedes is supposed to be level 3 whereas the Tesla is supposed to be level 2.

Let me try and find two dedicated news sources to add to my RSS aggregator, as without a steady influx of new posts, any new community will just stagnate.

As for where it's hosted, I don't mind ml at all, in fact all of my interactions with the developers and moderators have been favourable. That said, there's probably more appropriate instances for such a community. As long as it's not on world (just because I don't like Lemmy being centralised), I don't mind where it is.

Why though? In case of a public chat or a chat with at least few dozens of users it'll already be excessive if it could work at all.
