streaming or torrenting today vs. 5 years ago

I've been a good boy for 5 years or so but the seas call to me. Are streaming sites the way to go now or is torrenting still a better bet for mainstream movies and tv? I'd imagine all of my accounts have been deleted on those sites so I'd be starting over.

Jellfyfin is the reason why I do this. I went from spending 30 minutes dumpster diving through terrible movies in one of the streaming platforms to now spending 30 minutes trying to choose from a selection of movies that I actually want to watch.

Living the dream ~

Which is 5TB of movies I think I should watch, 1.5TB of stuff I already watched and think I would watch again and the rest of stuff I actually want to watch.

At this point Rudy looks like a Simpsons' character.

Qualified experts of Lemmy, do people believe you when you answer questions in your field?

The internet has made a lot of people armchair experts happy to offer their perspective with a degree of certainty, without doing the work to identify gaps in their knowledge. Often the mark of genuine expertise is knowing the limitations of your knowledge....

One of the things that irated me most from Reddit was the fact that if someone's response came quickly enough, upvotes will ensure everyone believe it and downvoting it was like peeing on a wildfire.

I like that kbin shows both upvotes and downvotes which tells me when something is controversial enough to give it some thought rather than believe it blindly.

I know personally multiple people that got suckerpunched in broad daylight while walking down a street in NY for no apparent reason.

Same thoughts. It ends where the book ends, masterfully and wrapping up for all the characters, without anything else to tell.

I wish though they do the other books.

Getting some real clockwork orange vibes here.

Telegram's that kid in school that often says "hey you can tell me anything, c'mon trust me with your secret". An hour later, everyone knows it.

Yep, that doesn't look faster than a pair of fins or even a monofin.

Light interacts with colors and paint and will refract more or less accordingly. Because our eyes work through light capture, that's how this concept works for us.

I might wage that unless you're in said room it will be harder to realize this effect.

I would also say that this only effects perception and I guess a windowless room will need a lot of artificial light (just a guess though).

That's more or less how certain public clouds manage migrations in some cases.

But then, we wouldn't have VtM: Bloodlines, Pillars of Eternity or The Outer Worlds.

Tim Cain has been hitting it out of the park since the first Fallout.

Be careful when asking for financial advice on the internet. A lot of people treat investing like it's a casino.

Reads above: Spicy Ginger Tea.

I guess Alternative Mike might be from Boston.

This sounds like a B plot from Doom Patrol.

There's a demo available.

massive_bereavement ,
@massive_bereavement@kbin.social avatar

Ok, I remembered playing the demo, but I'm unused to this "temporary demo" thing.

In fact, I'm still unused to having demos back, which I kinda wish it was the norm.

U.S. Secretly Shipped New Long-Range Missiles to Ukraine ( www.nytimes.com )

The United States last week secretly shipped a new long-range missile system to Ukraine, and Ukrainian forces immediately used the weapons to attack a Russian military airfield in Crimea last Wednesday and Russian troops in the country’s southeast overnight on Tuesday, according to a senior U.S. official....

It looks like something out of The Office.

Most "high-end cellphones" have their batteries glued in (applying heat near a battery is no fun at all), and in some cases to open the enclosure you've got to remove the front glass as there's no way to remove the back cover (surprise, it's also glass).

Honestly, I felt that after trying to replace a battery, they should hand me an EOD title.

Usually you need one of these puppies though I heard you could actually use a hair dryer, though that might be for the more adventurous.

I just checked and the latest iphone battery's adhesive can be removed with isopropyl alcohol.

Still, I'm not comfortable applying heat to anything spicy.

I'm glad you enjoyed the experience though ;)

Plus bread in a pond or water system will eventually rot, adding bad bacteria and upsetting the water cycle. Plus it is also bad for the fish:

    Boo bread, boo!

Well, conservatism pushes a lot the idea that the 50s and somehow 60s was when "America was great".
I'm perplexed they thought of getting back into mccarthyism, but of course they'll get that low if they're desperate.

I'm just worried this is a very ugly can of worms they might be opening here.
