I noticed that for a week or so now the community has been much smaller tham it used to be. I'm seeing an almost 90% decrease in posts, comments, and votes. Did something get defederated or did a big community go down? Lemmy stats show that Lemmy average user count is still about the same.
Good work! Perspective is one of those things that is pretty mechanical, and one can avoid learning it for a long time by using crutches. It's always faster to work when one has internalized perspective and especially foreshortening so it comes automatically.
From distance, I thought I'd see an ultra-detailed sketch, but this is conveyed by nothing but the directional lines suggesting of detail. Minimalism at best.
I sort of hoped that Lemmy communities would have a more original "redditquette" idea to downvoting where downvotes are explained and only done when a post is noise instead of signal. But I guess downvoting as a system will always be "I don't like this opinion/post". It's a shame.
I upvoted this because you posted artwork that you created yourself, which is the point of this community.
I also kinda wonder why Lemmy displays the preview sometimes, but not always. Maybe it has to do with image size? Or some metadata? My portfolio uses the non-standard og:image meta tag that usually works.
Interesting. I've tried Alla Prima, but I haven't found it that easy to work with when using water-soluble oils. During winter I have no way of ventilating my apartment to use paint thinners.
Finally got around to getting my art wall reorganized with some of my newer pantings, it now displays 15 out of the 30 total paintings I've done since i started painting last month. 6 of these are Master Copies, 3 are from tutorials, and 6 are from pictures I took or found online.
The forest scene at top right is my favorite. It has great use of light & shadow and color. Really looks like sun is hitting those rocks at the front and the forest expands further into the distance.

Even with some negative accounts, other FromSoftware employees said working at the studio has been a great experience. One employee even likened it to FromSoftware's own Dark Souls, saying, "There's a lot of struggle to get things right, but if you get over the hump it is very satisfying. It's just like you defeated a boss in Dark Souls."
I'm not sure if we should be approaching work like Dark Souls.
Do we have anything that can make use of such tags? I don't really see the purpose unless there's a programmatic way to filter based on them. Right now many people already write the medium in the title if they want.
I'm inclined to say no to AI art, although i'd call it a grey territory to use AI for the first pass and then paint on top of that. However, I'll just say no to all AI for now.
Are you using pre-framed canvases, by the way? I got myself a roll of canvas and just leave my oil paintings lying around until I can get around to buying some carpentry & stapling tooling to build frames.
This works in Mount & Blade, I suppose, at least for the first x hundred hours. The difference is that Mount & Blade makes grinding actually fun and you don’t notice to be grinding for a good while.
