Why did you attach a link about Creative Commons and copyright laws?

Oh, no particular reason at all. Just seemed like a fun thing to do.

🤷😋😇

All kidding aside, that's something of a loaded question.

Instead of a repeating myself, yet again, let me just point you to this topic...

Just click on the "View all Comments" link, to go to the top of the topic. It's a full discussion.

If you want something more recent (like yesterday recent), then I'd point you to this topic...

Otherwise, you can look through the last threeish weeks of my posting comment history, and you'll see the same subject come up multiple times, and be discussed.

Edit: Wow, seven down votes in just a few seconds from time of posting the comment. That must be a record.

Edit2: Hmmm, the responses seem strangly familiar. ... 🤔 Seems like someone is trying really hard to push a certain agenda/perspective.

Others don't see the text of the comment though, it just says comment is deleted.

To answer your question, basically for Federation reasons (if I had to guess).

Its the same way with when you block someone, you're not blocking them from the seeing you, you're blocking yourself from seeing them. They can still respond to your comments and you wouldn't know they had.

@CosmicCleric@lemmy.world avatar

It must be the AI accounts that take offence with the licence.

That would be my guess.

There's a lot of history in the last three-ish weeks in multiple of my posts with me using the license, including a standalone topic, where people/""people"" are ripping into me every way they can for using it, so I'm assuming it's just more of that.

The same cycle tends to reoccur approximately every day to every other day. Usually someone asking an innocent question about it, and then somebody else replies to them, ripping into me, and then it explodes from there, derailing the OP.

I hate that the Lemmy admins are not taking care of the problem (if you admins are, and I'm just not just seeing it, then you have my apologies, and my thanks), but I'm also kind of numb to it at this point.

Getting to the topic of the OP...

Gamers Nexus is very consumer advocacy oriented, so I hate to think people are downvoting them for being them.

In fact, if you're looking to build a PC, and want good advice on your rights when it comes with warranty repair for products you may have purchased, I would definitely suggest watching the video that's linked In this topic (start @26:00 if you are in a hurry).

You're being intellectually dishonest.

It points to a comment that has a link to a ProPublica article posted on Lemmy that also uses a Creative Commons license in the description for the post.

And if you instead go to the top comment of my linked comment ('View all comments' link), then you'll see the whole long conversation that I refer to, where every point has already been discussed.

I don’t think the license does anything at all

ProPublica would disagree with you.

you are not also including some unique phrase or UUID

The specific license number is explicitly stated.

How are you going to prove their models used specifically your copyrighted content in the event that courts rule it is not fair use to do so?

Already discussed in that other conversation post.

You are writing “anti-commercial AI,” they are making their work explicitly available to republish non-commercially.

That's just a description of what the license actually does, non-commercial usage of my content.

It's actually not even my description, it's one I got from someone else, who's also licensing their content with the same license.

I have no problem with my content being used for non-commercial purposes.

You have completely different motivations.

Can you at least make the text smaller? That way people aren’t as bothered by it, but you still have your licence?

I already did actually, a couple of weeks ago.

I'm using the Lemmy web editor. The web client doesn't let you change font sizes, but it does let you mark font as subscript or superscript, which is a smaller font size, so I did that.

My understanding is some mobile clients have problem with the subscript/superscript formatting, and the cause of that is on their end, not supporting the format text yet.

If you don't see my license declaration in a smaller font, direct the devs of your client to look at this page, which is the formatting instructions from Lemmy, and specifically the subscript and superscript formatting.

Only thing we’re missing is for greedy politicians to get out of the pockets of the fossil fuel industries so that the transition can happen in earnest.

Are you prepared to shell out potentially 10’s of thousands of dollars to actually defend your license? That’s my biggest question in this, because if not it really is a waste of time and effort.

Well if the license is flagrantly ignored I'm sure Creative Commons would probably have something to say about it.

Having said that, I meant for you to also go to the top of that link conversation to read everything that's been discussed, including my answer to the question you just asked.

I did, both in the link that I originally gave you, as well as replying to your comment directly.

And also your link has become incredibly obnoxious, you don’t need all those “~”

That's a problem with your mobile client, you'll need to speak to the devs of your client about that.

“old lady” absolutely is slang for wife.

I know it exists, but I've never used it.

Also, I was just being more humorous, than literal, hence the toilet seat comment.

Being serious for a moment, IMO, it sends one hell of a negative signal to your significant other, to your dissatisfaction of them, which I've never felt for my own wife.

Edit: ...

And for those of you who may disagree with me, ask yourself this. Is your wife actually okay with you using that slang, or do they just act like they're okay, but inside it bothers them? Do they see it as a term of endearment, or as a reminder of reality?

Reminding your wife that she's old, even playfully, may not be something she wants to hear.

And generally speaking, women seem to care more about aging than men do. That's why when someone asks you how old your wife is, when she is in earshot, you always say 18, or at the very least 21! 😜

Anti Commercial-AI license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)

CosmicCleric ,

Toilet seat belongs down - and the lid with it! It’s not only logical, but also just.

The thing is, at least in our household, the lid has to stay up.

I actually thought as you do, as that would be a perfect compromise, both parties would have to work to use the toilet.

But from what I'm told, is the late night half asleep moments where you forget to put the seat down, and you fall down into the toilet, that is being prevented by making sure the seats always down and the lid is always up.

It's a low hanging fruit way of maritial bliss, so I go with it.

@CosmicCleric@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe I’m not understanding you but lid down is a foolproof way to not fall in from my perspective.

My wife always forgets when she gets up in the middle of the night, and falls in, or sits on the lid and has to get up and put the lit up and seat down herself.

So she asks me to always make sure to put the seat down for her, something that I'm happy to do, as a happy wife is a happy life.

Lid down so the flush spray is mostly contained is enough reason, no?

We never have that problem in our household. 🤷

So you can have the lid down while seat is up? Then what you said before makes much more sense. Though not sure what purpose this feature brings. Or how that would even lool like, never seen anything like that.

Are you trying to be purposely obtuse, or intellectually dishonest?

Or are you trying to let me know I have a typo somewhere in one of my earlier comments, without actually explicitly saying so?

You said your lid and seat are totally independent - suggesting you can leave the seat up but close the lid.

I believe that's an interpretation mistake on your part (the italicized part).

I was responding in disagreement to your comment about how both of them have to both be up together, or both down together, to actually use the toilet.

A reminder of what I was responding to...

So she asks me to always make sure to put the seat down for her,

Seat is down if thenlid is down.

‘Protect’ can imply it’s a victim of an unjust action.

Not in the context of how I used it. Context matters.

‘Maintain’ may perhaps be a more neutral term.

The article describes a conflict between the city and the state, so 'maintain' would not be a proper word, 'protect' would be. The state was trying to take something away from the city.
