Most job responses I get is they're not hiring anymore due to restructuring. Aka they just go for pure profit increase while overworking the understaffed employees. No more remote interviews either. Tons of requests to do one sided video interviews. And the pays appear lower than they were during the main pandemic, even though...
I am. One rejection. One interview with no followup. Waiting for a response from another. It's a dream for me to be a public servant but I'm not sure how close to reality it ever will get.
It's not fearing. It is becoming homeless. Both young millenials and older gen Z I've seen and myself had experienced going homeless. It's our reality.
I've been homeless multiple times, thankfully never rough sleeping yet. Employers have always been an issue because the system is built around the idea of you living with the family or being able to go back to them if you fall on tough times: without that, any form of thriving is more frequently than not out of reach.
I had to move countries multiple times purely out of necessity due to the housing crisis engulfing possibly everywhere, but you can try to hop around, it worked out temporarily for me, but the alienation due to friendship loss and language barriers are soul crushing.
I am currently going back to a country where I speak the language of, even though it's near guaranteed I will be homeless rough sleeping there (I moved countries to avoid it, but I cannot take living where I ended up).
People like me I knew growing up ended up with severe mental issues. Some resort to sex work, some are on government money. Some aren't with us any more...
I was unable to finish my degree due to not being able to afford rent + food, on top of that not even having the time to learn due to shifts, many scheduled during my lecture hours in spite of getting hired for my student status for tax purposes.
I'm pretty comftable with linux mint right now but i want to peruse the wares so to speak, what are some cool or interesting distros that do things differently than mint?...
Rhino-Linux for rolling release Ubuntu-based. I never tried it myself as I'm not into Ubuntu much. I reckon it has UI for installs, so I'd recommend it to any non-technical person.
ZorinOS was my go-to recommendation due to it looking the most polished out of all distros I've seen, but I cannot recommend non-rolling-release as I don't believe anyone should ever need to re-install the system regularly like this when it's clearly not needed.
EndeavoursOS is terminal centric and the most easy to use distro I've had. I'd recommend it to anyone who is ok with no UI.
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed was generally a weird experience. It has a UI, but it feels like a terminal with UI elements. I used to recommend it, but I don't feel like it's actually good tbh.
I stopped hopping thanks to EndeavoursOS. NixOS tempts with different folder structure, but I like things just working, so I think I'm gonna stay.
I like handling bureaucracy so I can handle that. Currently trying to get a public office job. I'm bringing it up because I'm aware most people don't.
Many "undesirable" jobs are undesirable because they're below living wage and/or may be long-term unsustainable physically (or mentally) with the 40(+)h/week standard.

The current job market is beyond fucked.

What good/positive habits have you taken away from your time in Covid lockdown and kept up since then?
For example, I have kept the habit of washing my hands with soap, first thing when I come home.

I know they're supposed to be good for the environment but... God I hate those caps.
People without a family, how are you faring in life?
Without a family as in fully on your own since legal age, be it kicked out / had to leave at 18 or from a foster background, or from an orphanage.
Cool distros to try
