"Hassan Sayed, a fifth year PhD candidate in economics, and Achinthya Sivalingan, a SPIA MPA second year, have been arrested, evicted, and permanently banned from the Princeton campus, thereby preventing them from finishing their degrees."

@JoeGermuska there is no such thing as a universal activitypub client and I would argue there never will be unless we speak of a future version of AP that comes with many adjustments

Folks interested in emerging social media protocols should check out Willow. Like Bluesky’s atproto and Nostr it is inspired and built by Secure Scuttlebutts developers. It’s another approach that solves a bunch of problems in its more popular siblings.
@rabble nice to see this shout out here. I just spent an afternoon hanging with its co-author https://aljoscha-meyer.de last week. It's exciting to see these things go off and bloom in different directions.
An important distinction is slowly being uncovered about the definition of the term "fediverse." Who is it that gets to decide what this place is? How are we being represented? These are not easy questions to answer and if we don't do a better job describing ourselves, then the job will get done for us by people who don't understand the underlying values we hold. #fediverse#meta#threads
Can an instance operator running a derivative of Misskey (Sharkey, firefish, or maybe even Misskey itself) get in touch with me? I can't seem to federate with that entire pie of the fediverse... 401 Unauthorized 😬
Alternateively, if you've run into this type of issue before, any tips? Heh.
An active serviceman of the United States Air Force burned themself alive today as an act of protest against the ongoing genocide in Palestine... Their name is #AaronBushnell or #LillyAnarKitty
Are there any internet radio standards people on the fedi I can follow? whos working on streaming standards? @gabek does Owncast support any streaming audio standards?
I'll be at #FOSDEM this weekend! Would love to chat with anyone who is involved with fediverse stuff in some capacity, so hit me up here or @laurenshof if you want to meet up for a coffee or a chat.
@fediversereport@laurenshof oh damn! I was thinking about going but if I would have known you were gonna be there I might have tried a little harder. I don't think I can make it now
MKBHD talking about the fediverse. This is a big deal, I am surprised I hadn't seen anymore mention this until now. This is like John Oliver or Oprah talking about the fediverse in terms of the reach he has.
thanks to a post by @rant.vpalepu.com@rant.vpalepu.com I learned that https://wordpress.com now has the #ActivityPub plugin installed by default and theres just a switch on any profile to turn it on!
I’m not sure if this is an issue with @IceCubesApp or @bonequest but when I try to, for instance, browse older posts by someone like @kissane to find their post about this article https://erinkissane.com/notes-from-a-mastodon-migration just so I can boost the post, I get like three posts back and the timeline just… ends. I know some #Fediverse users are anti-history and auto delete after a few days, but it says there’s 2.5K posts on the account so I doubt that is the case here.
@tom its sadly just how activitypub works. if you try from an app like @phanpy you can load someones profile from their remote instance to see all the posts and then reply to each from your own instance.
@datacequia@evan is currently working on one now and there have been a few published in Japanese over the years and one was published in Catalan last year
Way more interesting and healthy fediverse news is happening in the shadows and is barely getting discussed! Which is: Discourse has federation between different instances of itself and other #fediverse software such as Mastodon working!
"My long-term vision for RedReader is to restructure the app to more easily support other sites, including Lemmy" -RedReader
RedReader is a Reddit app with over 100k downloads on the Google Play store
"I think it would be cool to work with some kind of "open forum protocol" which would allow a variety of websites and apps to interoperate with each other through a uniform API."
As more and more instances are providing multiple services under the same management, we need a term to talk about this type of arrangement. A Fediverse Galaxy is a collection of federated software that is provided by the same admin or collective.
