No banana fixates on despising bananas, triggered by their sickly sweet aroma and mushy texture, fueling a relentless crusade against the yellow scourge. No one reads these anyway.

I just failed five by doing them correctly. It was sure there were more bicycles, but it was motorbikes.

Of course it did. I’m disappointed that I’m not surprised. I’m glad it was unmanned.

Revealed: WHO aspartame safety panel linked to alleged Coca-Cola front group ( www.theguardian.com )

It uncovered eight WHO panelists involved with assessing safe levels of aspartame consumption who are beverage industry consultants who currently or previously worked with the alleged Coke front group, International Life Sciences Institute (Ilsi)....

Literally every fucking health org has studied the chemical and found no evidence of health issues connected to it. It’s only this one study that the IARC cites. And IARC doesn’t take dosage into account either.

Regardless of people’s taste for aspartame, it is literally not dangerous. It does taste dry. It doesn’t taste like sugar. You do not have to enjoy it. But it is not bad for you.

edit: my badly worded comment got some discussion going which is great. I just want to say that I was being as hyperbolic as the worried people and I’m sorry. Of course it’s not black or white. There are factors to consider, but what I was trying to express was that aspartame leans to the safe side rather than dangerous.

Obviously do not drink 25 cans of soda a day, obviously do not compensate for the fact that you’re drinking a “light” product by consuming more of it. But a can a day isn’t gonna ruin your health.

It is, factually, an opinion piece and not a news article.

Betteridges law doesn’t specify that a headline ending with a question mark should be answered with a no. Only that they can be.

ObviouslyNotBanana ,
@ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, nothing I said contradicts that. It can be answered with a no. It could also be answered with something else. That’s why the word can is used instead of something like “should”.

That doesn’t seem weird to me. Honestly it seems weird that it’s that active. I would’ve expected a sharper, quicker decline. Retaining active users is hard.

And loads of people hear the buzz, try it out and leave when they grow bored. I think the reason for the downward spike not being worse is that the threshold to take part in Lemmy communities is higher than many social media sites, and invested time registering makes people more likely to stay.

ObviouslyNotBanana ,
@ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world avatar

That is true.

The only comments I personally see are complaining about the price. Most people just use it. I subscribed instantly and knew I would before the price was revealed. I’m only saying it because it’s on topic now, but tend not to get into the discussion because in the end it’s up to the individual whether or not the cost makes the app worth using.

@ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world avatar

Hey, I get that. A lot of people over here are very privacy conscious and I’m not against it at all. The dev just hasn’t ever given me a reason to distrust them in all the years I’ve used the app. There’s been a built up trust, so to speak.

The control of private data is important and when I’m told that the collection stops if I have the ad free version I believe it.

ObviouslyNotBanana ,
@ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world avatar

And I would never say that anyone should pay for something unless they feel it to be worth the price. Just like I wouldn’t tell someone not to pay for it because I think the price is too high for me.

I’ve used Sync for as many years as I was on reddit. I paid almost nothing for the app back then compared to the amount of time I’ve spent on it. I feel like the whole discussion on price is meaningless, really. Some people aren’t gonna like it, some aren’t going to care.

ObviouslyNotBanana ,
@ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world avatar

It definitely is, but mostly because it’s got 10 years of a head start UX wise since it used to be a reddit app.
