Oh my. This is what happens when University presidents make decisions without shared governance. What a trip! https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/ohio-state-graduation-commencement-speaker-b2542310.html @academicchatter

With the April 19 bitcoin "halving," am resharing an essay I wrote on it from early in 2024. "Bitcoin's Baptism in the Heavenly City of 21st Century Financiers."

Issue 53 – Choose rich

Euphoria has risen along with crypto prices, but nothing has changed from the last bubble. Also in this issue: Tether-related defamation lawsuits, intra-government infighting, and a disappointing $300 million Bored Ape video game.

Idea i'm surprised hasn't happened yet:

MicroCoin. A blockchain currency backed by a tech giant. It seems to me it'd be both crypto and fiat. It could easily become the world's reserve currency. Msft could arrogate all the power of the banking cartel in-house.

Will someone who actually understands economics explain to me why we're still using dollars?

@Uair @actuallyautistic a couple reasons, but mainly because no electronic devices are secure. Ever. Second reason is paper money gives better anonymity.

the bitcoin price is up, which means it's time for endless comments from crypto bros who somehow both 1) know that i'm critical of crypto and 2) have no idea WHY i'm critical
