Basic blender went bad (motor ran but spindle wasn't rotating). I wanted to disassemble to see if it could be repaired. Three of the four screws were Phillips head. I had to cut the casing open in order to discover why I couldn't unscrew the fourth. It was a slotted spanner.
Just a basic security screw. It's so kids (and people who don't know enough about repairing appliances to know about security screws) don't disassemble the dangerous machine.

Why is this (I presume scientific) paper written like an opinion piece?
What will it take to make our undergraduate and graduate researchers, our postdoctoral interview candidates, our faculty and our academic leaders reflect local and global populations — and why should we bother?
That's like religious people saying: how can you have ethics without religion? Well, I don't need the threat of eternal damnation to not murder anyone, but you do apparently. Remind me to never be left alone with those people, just in case they suddenly lose faith.
If you cant respect someone who doesn't respect you, maybe you're just a narcissistic asshole.
I'm looking for some good reading on how to, eventually, best help be a step parent to my partner's children and NEARLY ALL books are geared toward the woman's perspective as though men don't want to be a strong teacher and develop these kids into healthy adults. Ugh!...
Not only that, but he also created them as poor and killed their baby cousin with cancer and tortures all the exploited people and animals in the world.
This reminds me of a text I read on a veterinarian website the other day, "Sterilizing your cat is good for them because then they don't have to go through heat all the time." I imagined this text on a hospitals website and the shitstorm it would bring.
My favorite hypothesis is we just didn't invent something akin to subspace radio yet. It's like thinking your little remote island is the only populated place in the world because no one responds to your smoke signals, while the rest of the world uses radio.
Schindler’s List director says in speech marking 30th anniversary of the USC Shoah Foundation that he is alarmed that ‘we may … once again have to fight for the very right to be Jewish’....
Ah as long as it's only innocent men it's ok. It's also ok to blow up residential buildings, school, and universities to rob the people of any chance to rebuild. It's also ok to mock and torture prisoners. It's also ok just to starve an entire people, since starvation is very difficult to actually die from since most will die of their disgusting Palestinian diseases before that due to the weaked immune system. As long as it's done by a Jewish person that is, of course. Only people who were once the exterminatee can be the exterminator, as is known.
I'll probably do things like ransack my local library for book like the SAS handbook, plant identification, etc to bring with me, hijack a truck that's already ready to go, load all useful stuff including a small backup car/motorbike and head for the sub-tropics somewhere to a forest next to a city.
Not really fallen for, but at some point you don't really have a choice. So in Bali near the waterfalls you sometimes have these people who claim to work for some official company asking for the entrance fee, but of course they don't. But are you gonna just say no and keep on driving to save like 2,50 bucks when 2 burly guys are telling you to stop?
Value wise it's not very good: you could have made the sauces yourself, slice your own cheese, cut your own broccoli, make your own muffins if you really want to save, make your own mac and cheese, etc. Would save you probably 50%.
That's the whole point of the poster, how can people not understand that?
Also, this is not cringe. It provides a much needed counterview from the increasing amount of religious hate groups in the US, which is something tha US desperately needs if they don't want to end up like Afghanistan.
Lemmy and the fediverse is the opposite of privacy. Everything you do (as in: post, comment, like, follow, subscribe, block) is being recorded and shared with everyone. There is no need to sell data, because it is already public domain.
In this way Lemmy is waaay worse for the users privacy than Reddit.
What else is the "remote HTTPS connection"? Is it possible to stream my stream OUTWARDS to WAN? (With port forwading) So I can just give friends a link to stream from my stream? Easy peasy? Would be super handy
At this point just use streamio-web. Make the server go through a vpn and all your apps will be protected. Then just make the server public. (Although a warning about making services like this open to the whole web is probably needed)
I just wish they fixed the subtitles, then I would actually use it. In most situations It's totally unreadable unless you turn on the black background, which is ugly. How hard can proper shadowing be? Everyone else does do it correctly.
