What I want to know is, if you withhold your vote as protest, if Trump wins, how will that help the causes your interested in? He's more likely to give Gaza to Israel on a platter without a blink. He certainly will role back stuff that helps the poor and the immigrant and homeless. And let's not even begin to talk about women's rights or climate change.

@artemesia That part about surviving the lunar night is definitely true. And with each lander having problems, I suspect there is learning going on about how to land in terrain as rough as the lunar south pole area. Eventually things will work out better, but it's a learning curve.

@artemesia the broken leg itself happened because of rocks encountered. The polar terrain is way rougher (and rockier) than the terrain where the Apollo landing took place, which made it tricker to survive a velocity problem. Or at least that's what the science reports I've read have indicated. People doing this will improve their landing tech. It took multiple tries to learn to do any soft landing anywhere on the moon back when I was a little kid. Lots of places for error/bad luck.

So, private companies in the space business 🤷. Thursday a Texas based company called Intuitive Machines landed a on the moon. It did not go smoothly. The live feed was abruptly halted. It was unclear what happened. Then the company said they were getting a faint signal. People speculated the spacecraft had tipped over. Hours later the company announced it was upright! Friday their stock jumped wildly, but after the market closed, they held a press conference, and said it had tipped over.🤔
