They're there
but you can't tell.
Maybe you'll hear whispers,
or smell a breath, before it all
goes dark.

Her fate written across the night sky
in squirming spectral greens and reds
the kids laying in the yard
watching with disbelief
Could it really be?
A life so short
and the end
coming
soon

No one knows
if he fell
or was pushed,

or worse yet,
pulled down there.
A seized leg,

a moment
of dismay,
and a drop.

They're shooting a movie here, in our small town. Big production,
big actors: DiCapro, Sean Penn, others. That's all just fine.
Our town, though, only has one road to Ranchita and it's closed.

You could spend hours pouring over
the encrypted book collection
at the old town library.
But when others have tried
and failed, why bother?
All has been lost:
We've misplaced
the one
key

Had to rework this new idea a bit.

A now forgotten advance
singularly paid
amidst a jumbled ado
simply thrown away.
They became aware,
the top line professionals,
of this leaked affair.

Something different, answers in the poem. Good luck!

Money lost in a bad loan:
It should only happen once.
If more, don't stew, that's on you.
Just remember not to toss
your good money onto bad.
Even aces make mistakes,
to say so doesn't make news.

an author of known Vulgar Latin
cast a work without a sonant
and lacking such a basic symbol
still and all brought forth a book

it slunk around its taboo sound
prompting most unnatural phrasing
asking that a bookworm follow
into its swamp of convolution

its paragraphs look tough and gnarly
but as a work it's monolithic
and if you can scan past its winding
a surprising, knotty story blossoms

for Georges Perec

an inescapable feeling,
like having fallen down a
well. Though there are no walls around
and there is no putrid smell.
yet stuck one feels, unable to
say why. One tries to catch them
without any luck, like grabbing
air. Lift one's eyes and they've gone,
to where one can never be sure.
certainty ceases to be.
here there is no alone. So one
imitates normalcy. A
normal tone of voice, a normal
gait. One has no other choice.

Fondness
is not a word
one would use to describe
what he felt toward his tireless
workers.

They can see the sun out of sight
in moonlight

To reduce the space in-between
they convene

Anything only they can see
secretly

A well-hidden theology
binds and propels erstwhile strangers,
pulls them from their humble chambers.
In moonlight they convene secretly.

Today's poem is slightly too long to fit in a post, and rather than split it in a thread or create a graphic to share it, I'll save it for the next book (if it makes the cut). In the meantime, check out my last book here: https://xxyxxy.com/items/WfJnB2Yq

"Don't go there,"
the shopkeeper warns,
but doesn't
say why not.
"Promise me you won't do it."
His eyes and voice sharp.

"It's no joke!
No one goes out there."
Still you go,
undeterred,
full of foolish confidence,
writing your last line.
