Cubs series recap, 2-2 v Marlins

Pretty unacceptable split at home against a team that had just 4 wins coming into the series. This series highlights the flaws of this team. Hoyer and Ricketts want to keep nickel and diming things in hopes of building a winner, but the flaws of this plan are apparent.

Star: Nico Hoerner 8-19, 3 RBI

In the last 8 games, Nico's BA has risen from .171 to .289

Next up: 3 vs Houston

Pitching remains questionable (starters, bullpen, and closers). The rest of the line-up seems reasonably solid both hitting and fielding, but individual streaks good/bad could lay that out too. I haven't seen anything this season that makes me think the Cubs will take their division.

But as usual, I'll keep watching MLB.tv. At least Kyle didn't get shelled in the first couple innings. That's actually a modest improvement. 🤷‍♂️ ⚾ 🐻

Got caught-up on the past couple Cubs games this evening. MLB.tv to the rescue!

What a great Wrigley Opening Day game, even if the weather was bit crappy! Shota Imanaga was great, and Christopher Morel generates positive vibes. That in-the-park 3-run homer was ridiculous! Hope his fielding improves as he learns 3rd base.

It still feels weird to me that Craig Counsell is our Manager. I guess I'll get used to it?

MLB Opening Day (in the USA) is tomorrow! ⚾ 😁

Here in NEPA, I have my choice of 2 minor league teams relatively close: the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NY Mets AA) , and the Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders (NY Yankees AAA).

As a native Chicagoan, it distresses me to root for NY teams. But we'll see how I fare. 😉

Hoping to attend several games this season. It's been a while (years) - since COVID came to town.

    @georgetakei Well. I'm a honorably retired US Army Vet, who took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, against all enemies, foreign or domestic.
