In the first 9 months of the COVID-19 pandemic, postpartum visit attendance declined by 5.8 percentage points.

The biggest declines occurred among non-Hispanic Black individuals, those age 19 or younger, and those without postpartum insurance.

The most remote rural counties had Wave 4 COVID-19 mortality rates 52% higher than the most urban counties. From 2020-2021 research in Minnesota finds some critical occupations, such as transportation and logistics, construction, and food service, experienced higher excess mortality than did other critical occupations, such as health care, K-12 school staff, and agriculture. In almost all occupations investigated, workers of color experienced higher excess mortality than did White workers.
