Looks like a relative surge. I'm not sure if FliRTs are outcompeting JN.1 or if JN.1 is transitioning to FLiRT. Transitioning would explain why FLiRT is on the rise despite a 10.5 fold decline in infectivity.
By 'transitioning' I mean that pressures native to JN.1 swarms themselves, distinct from host population pressures, might be causing FLiRTs to precipitate out of JN.1 reminiscent of what we saw with D614G, only this time w/confounding pop. immunity. @auscovid19@VeeRat
