This is the origin of the meme, it's been a way to troll people ever since.

No no, don't worry, all I see is **********. YOU see your password, but everyone else sees asterisks :)

Who knows, but such trolling did happen a lot on IRC.

Another good one was everyone in the chat room agreeing to send single spaces to troll other users into repeatedly restarting and troubleshooting their IRC clients because they thought something was wrong with their fonts.

I wish the bands worked in Canada

That's what my research suggests, it doesn't get a good signal in Canada because it's missing some of our bands.

Google phones still don't solve the repairability problem for me, but a Pixel with Graphene flashed onto it is theoretically the best thing for your privacy.

I literally can't see whitespace, it gives me headaches looking for it. With brackets, I can get bracket matching in my IDE.

I'm really annoyed by how much Brave Search is pushing AI

I've been using Brave Search supplemented by Startpage for the past 2+ years. When I search for something, I want to get results for credible webpages, not a summary of unknown quality. I liked the previous AI inclusion because it was instant, didn't take up much space, and I could quickly navigate to the websites referenced in...

I gotta play that game again, thanks for the reminder!

Sorry, I don't take hearsay as evidence.

Truth is, there is little evidence suggesting benefits of veganism beyond being good for the environment. The "benefits" people are seeing is simply a result of an overlapping Venn diagram between vegans and people who exercise well and take care of themselves. Correlation is not causation.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10027313/

While veganism has been shown to decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic syndrome, it also carries the potential for micro- and macronutrient deficits. It should be noted that vegans often have better socioeconomic levels, live a healthier lifestyle with more physical exercise, and tend to smoke less compared to non-vegetarians, making it difficult to isolate the effects of veganism in observational research. Existing research is often skewed by selection bias, which is when the study sample is chosen based on prior eating patterns and such studies are often recruited in environments with a high level of health awareness.

ChromeOS is Gentoo-based and does use the Linux kernel, but everything in the userspace has little to do with the Linux desktop besides Crostini, which is just a Debian container.

That's unlike Android, whose kernel derives itself from a heavily gutted version of the Linux kernel, redesigned to support closed source binary blob drivers provided by device manufacturers and with low level support for the Dalvik JVM. Its API has little to do with the mainstream Linux kernel.

Cool, when will the bridge get caldav support?

I don't use the Proton calendar at all because I can't use it with GNOME nor Thunderbird, so I have to use a local calendar.

isVeryLoud ,
@isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca avatar

Nail on the head. I will keep Proton for personal use, but for professional use, I'll unfortunately be moving away for these and so many more reasons. It's not a ready product at all.

Macaroni is usually elbow pasta as far as I'm aware, and penne is a tubular pasta with slanted openings.

Also Macaroni, Macaron and Macaroon are all etymologically related words!
