Well, he's the Mayor of New York indicted on corruption charges. I'd surmise that's objectively news worthy.

Pleading not guilty is standard procedure. I'd be more surprised if he plead guilty right out of the gate.

I doubt they'd announce charges without the plea if it was guilty. Adams and his lawyers would have been in communication with the prosecutor to discuss plea deals. Had they come to an agreement the headline would instead read like "Adams to plead guilty to [insert crimes here]."

It's a major world city with a history of corruption. All of this is big. There may even be others involved we don't know about.
